Glasses Hampering An Active Lifestyle…
Probably about five years ago, I realized I couldn’t see distance anymore. I was getting blurry. And then I went and got glasses, but I had a pretty active lifestyle because I rode a motorcycle and I boxed, so I didn’t want the glasses interfering. They were bothering me.
Forget Contacts…
I didn’t even try contacts. I never felt comfortable sticking things in my eyes, and I didn’t feel I could do it. And my sister had contacts and she had problems with them. I remember her having infections and stuff. I mean, I’m sure that’s probably not as common today but, still, I just didn’t want to go through that.
Dr. Kelly Runs In A Vision Corrected Family…
Meanwhile, I’m in sales and one of my customers came back without glasses. I said, "Well, what happened to your glasses?" And he told me that he was the seventh person in his family to get his eyes done by Dr. Kelly. He told me, "Go see him. The consultation is free." So I went to see him, liked him very much, and decided to go through with the procedure.
Sometimes Less Delivers More…
Now, I could read pretty well but I couldn’t see distance. And Dr. Kelly had said that he wanted to do just my left eye, my dominant eye, and leave the other one alone, because I didn’t realize that once you fix your distance vision, you can’t read as well anymore. So I agreed to do that, but then when I talked to a few people in the gym, they said, "Just get them both done, you want to get both of them done anyway." So the day I went for the operation I said to him, "Doctor, I just want to get them both done." And he says, "No, I won’t do that." He says, "You’re not going to be happy. Believe me. And if you do want to get the other one done, you can always come back and do it." So I said, okay, fine, and I did one. Then it was about a week after that I was driving down the parkway on my motorcycle and I could see all the signs, I mean, perfect. My vision was excellent. And I looked at the dashboard and I could see that perfect. But when I used just the eye that he corrected, I realized I couldn’t read the dashboard anymore. And I realized if Dr. Kelly had done both eyes, I would be able to see these signs fine but I wouldn’t be able to see my dashboard, and I would have been very unhappy.
With Dr. Kelly, It’s Always About The Results…
Then I remembered how he said to me, "Look, it’s half the risk and half the price, but that’s not the most important thing. The most important thing is your results." And I realized he really did the right thing, because he could have taken me for twice the money. And that’s when I said to him, "If you even need me to give a testimonial, I’ll be available." And that’s how we got where we are today.
Now, The Best Of Both Eyes…
I don’t have to wear reading glasses. Sometimes when it’s very, very, very small, I use a magnifier a little bit, but most of the time I don’t need anything. And it’s funny because your eyes only use the best picture of both eyes, so I really don’t know where that line is but now I can see very, very clearly up close and I have 20/15 vision in the distance. One eye can’t see distance and one eye can’t see close up, but when they’re both open, I can see everything. And that really was the result that I was looking for. So I would have been in really bad shape if I had done both, because I would have been unhappy. Again, he could have got me for twice the money and he didn’t, and I was very happy with him talking me into doing that because he came out with the best result.
