New York ophthalmologist James R. Kelly, MD received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University in New York City. He earned his medical degree at Cornell University Medical College. Following the completion of his internship in internal medicine, Dr. Kelly performed a laser eye surgery residence at The Manhattan Eye, Ear & Throat Hospital, which is considered to be one of the top ten eye surgery centers in the nation.
Dr. Kelly chose to continue his education, receiving extensive training and certification in refractive laser surgery. He has spent his entire career working in the field of corrective eye surgery, performing more than 15,000 vision correction procedures since 1996. These procedures include:

He did his graduate work at the State University of New York College of Optometry, earning a doctorate of optometry in 1988. After graduation, he accepted a position at SUNY as an assistant clinical professor and worked there for the next 16 years. After leaving SUNY, Dr. Iamele joined the staff at Kelly Vision Center.
